Wondering why your Alexa Flashing Briefing stats have dropped?

I’ll tell you why in just a minute.

Hey, it’s Jeff Smith, the Alexa Guy. Thanks for listening.

A couple of months ago, I had hundreds of clients see their download and visitor numbers drop suddenly by up to 95%. No one knew why, but I knew it wasn’t a real drop, because the their numbers looked normal in the Alexa Developer Console.

It turns out that Amazon is now caching the files on their own servers. That means that every visit happens from Amazon’s servers and can’t be tracked by Podbean or Libsyn or Blubrry.

This is great for delivery speed of your briefings, but makes it harder to track your growth. You now will have to add your podcast host’s numbers to your Amazon Dev numbers and your YouTube numbers to get a full view of your stats.

I’m looking for an Analytics fix to this for my clients and I’ll let you know on The Voice Minute when I find one.

I’m Jeff Smith, the Alexa Guy. Thanks for listening and check out my website at AlexaGuy.com.
